As most of you know by now, I have committed myself to working on behalf of all of Maryland.  Whether it be helping to secure funding to improve the health, education, and welfare of our children or, helping to build the infrastructure of the political landscape with the hopes of creating an environment where nobody feels disenfranchised during the electoral process, I want the state of Maryland to be the beacon of how democracy should work for the people.

As an ardent defender and advocate of women's rights, I fight continuously to move the marker forward in eliminating the inequities that continue to plague our communities based on gender inequality policy and practice.  I so believe that we must move beyond a society that devalues women's health, contributions to our society, education, talent, and leadership.  Everyone is born of a women and it is high time that we, as a state, and a nation for that matter, conduct ourselves as such.

Over the last few years, we have made some notable strides toward gender equality.  The voters made history in Prince George's County and elected the Honorable Angela Alsobrooks as the County Executive.  The moment to make more history in this state yet abounds, particularly in the 7th Congressional District (Baltimore City, Howard County, and Baltimore County).

June 2, 2020 will mark a historical moment for the people of the 7th District of Maryland.  The seat left vacant by the passing of our beloved Congressman Elijah Cummings is being sought by his widow, Dr. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings.  She is not just a widow but a formidable policy maker in her own right.  He credentials are impeccable as a congressional chief of staff, highly regarded policy expert, and as former chairwoman of the Maryland Democratic Party.

Here is the challenge.  Currently, there are no women in our Maryland congressional delegation.  This is embarrassing and unacceptable.  I challenge the people of the 7th District to send a qualified women to congress on June 2, 2020 - VOTE for Maya Rockeymoore-Cummings as their Democrat for Congress in the Presidential Primary. I challenge people in the rest of the state to call someone you know in the 7th District and tell them to put Dr. Cummings in Congress.  It is time for us to demonstrate some progress and break the glass ceiling!
